Doors Legend Robby Krieger Jam Kitchen REVIEW

"From Los Angeles California, Robby Krieger's Jam Kitchen!"  THOSE exact words were my one line instructions from the iconic musician/songwriter when just moments before 10pm on August 17, 2013, I asked Robby Krieger himself IF he had an official stage introduction.

Robert Alan "Robby" Krieger is an American rock guitarist and songwriter. He was the guitarist in The Doors, and wrote some of the band's best known songs, including "Light My Fire", "Love Me Two Times", "Touch Me", and "Love Her Madly". Wikipedia

While Robby is known for his early writing and work with THE DOORS, he is currently on tour with his own band called Jam Kitchen, featuring some mighty players in their own right. Arthur Burrows, who Krieger met about five years after the death of Jim Morrison was once involved in The American Prayer DOORS album, released in 1976. Burrows, an accomplished bass player was a longtime member of Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention band.

Tommy Mars, keyboardist extraordinaire and another former member of The Mothers of Invention wailed away in a two hour jam session that included a few DOORS classics!

Larry Klimas, a brass virtuoso on saxophone, who claims Neil Diamond, The Manhattan Transfer and CHICAGO on his working resume was stellar in the group's Jazz-Rock-fusion instrumentals and select DOORS cuts.

Tom Brechtlein, on drums, appearing to be the youngest of the group is really a jazz aficionado, having worked with legends Al DiMeola and Chick Corea among others. He really drove Riders On The Storm, Love Me Two Times and Back Door Man to the much hair-on-the-neck raising delight of a packed house.

The crowd was diversified from oldsters finger snapping and swaying to long jazzy jams to rockers sporting The DOORS t-shirts bouncing and dancing to DOORS classics. Curiosity seekers on the gaming floor were coming over to our FREE concert event and asking me if these guys were famous because of all the equipment they had. Another commented how they were really playing their asses off reminding her of her jazz favorites Billy Cobham and Chick Corea! I told her the drummer was in those groups! The legendary keyboardist, Mars, at one point turned around to her and said "this next selection is for you sista"

It was absolutely amazing and thrilling to be standing off stage by Robby's guitars/wardrobe rack and watching these high powered players from 10 feet away.

Jam Kitchen's new release is called Singularity. The group is on tour and worth every penny to see in person.

News reports recently indicated the Robby Krieger is open for a reunion with former Doors band mate John Densmore about a possible DOORS Tribute concert for the late Ray Manzarek. Robby told me backstage that right now he's on the road and hopes a future concert with Densmore is possible.

Special Thanks: Jason Goldberg, for including WZXL in this event! Sid & Anthony on the ZXL Promo squad for their hard work!
